Beyond the light –lighting of flame

When I was looking for a house in the foot of Yatsugatake, I had various issues that needed to be taken into account before choosing the place where I live now, such as reasonably sized land for us, the moderate transport convenience for my husband who travels frequently, and an elementary school was located nearby etc, but I think the big thing was that the modest appearance of the house when seen from a distance stayed in my heart.
It makes me feel glad to have a good view from the house, but I think I rather feel more important that the house seen from the outside is in harmony with the scenery.
My hope is that people and buildings will live and blend in with nature as much as possible.

Not only in the daylight but the same can be said in the night.
One of the things I’m glad about moving here is that the night is quiet and pitch dark.
I was scared when I first started living, but once I get used to it, I even feel relaxed in the silence of the night.
On the other hand, in the house, you can spend peaceful time shaking off the tiredness, talking with family, reading books or doing handwork, and prepare for the next day.
In order to spend such time, but not to destroy the darkness of the mountains as much as possible, I chose an original lighting from “flame“.
I was drawn to the simple beauty of the product, sympathizing with the idea of flame that “hoping the lighting to be a rich light that is indispensable in daily life, not just to gain brightness”.
And then, during the construction of the house when I had to decide the lighting position and fixtures, I headed for the flame’s showroom in Ashiya, Kobe alone, taking the plan of the house with me.

Kenichi KANDATSU is a flame representative and is helping to find lighting.
He shared with me that when he travelled in Scandinavia, he re-examined the essence of “richness” by spending time with family and experiencing the lives of people who love their casual everyday life.
Since I was able to hear his story in the midst of building my house, I couldn’t wait to start a new life.
What surprised me more was that while he was thinking what kind of light was really needed for my house, he recommended a lighting that was not a flame product for some part of my house.
He looked keen and intent and has consistent principles of “The light creates the space. The best light for the space”.
In the coming season when the outside temperature drops significantly and the night becomes longer, the gentle and deep light created by the flame’s brass-made shade matches with the colour of woodstove flame, bringing warmth into the house even more.

When I turn off the lights one by one and go to sleep, the light that melts into the starry sky is good.
Because there is tomorrow ahead of the light–
