Watashifune

I received an announcement from Etsuko Watanabe and Yukiko Funaki from Showa village, Fukushima Prefecture that they opened a reservation-based shop called “Watashifune*”.

Two people who moved to the village to learn Karamushi-ori(false-nettle cloth), married to local villager, and their surname became Watanabe and Funaki.
In hope of keep treasuring ties and becoming “Watashifune” to link Showa village with the outside…
The shop was named after the initials of their surnames.
What a lovely name.
I truly believe that they will play such a role.

While I am spurred by their activities, it seems that they are going to have panel sessions in various places, so I hope one day they will come to the foot of Yatsugatake to do the panel session too.

It’s been almost a year since I visited Showa village.
It seems that Ohiki for this year is going to be started soon.

*Watashifune – originally meaning “ferry”
